After 2 hrs of train ride from Tokyo, we finally reached Nikko! But the temperature was much lower than in Tokyo (at least 10 degrees celcius lower!). We were certainly caught unexpected and had to bare with the gruesome chilliness. But our spirits remained high!
Although you can’t see from our face, we’re actually shivering from the cold, brrrr….
We were greeted by 2 weird elephants as we walked from the train station to the Nikko National Park
A Hello Kitty shop… (sorry Hello Kitty fans, no photos allowed inside the shop)
We found this outside someone’s house… hail the King Frog!
A group of grasshoppers playing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. Hope they finish before the King Frog sees them!
Walking further down the road, we found a little red bridge (Shinkyo Bridge), just like the one found in olden kungfu movies… (but we were not on it cause the was a fee for crossing the bridge
)
Right beside the little red bridge is the Nikko National Park! (It’s one of the World Heritage Sites for your info.)
Cute dude posing a shot with his beloved camera…
Trekking into the area, we found this statue of a monk. Who is he? Does anyone know?!
Ah just as well, let’s take a photo with this mysterious monk and his pet dragon…
A close look at the monk’s pet dragon, hope it doesn’t bite!
Finally, the first big shrine we see in Nikko, but we don’t know the name of it (certainly not Toshogu Shrine…) At the bottom of the picture, you will see lots of people trying to gather the incense fumes from an large urn to their bodies, must be to get rid of bad luck.
Me and hotdude standing at the entrance of a small japanese garden.
More shots of the japanese garden…
More shrines…
Others might see this as plain moss, but I call this a piece of art.
All it takes are just 2 handsome guys to beautify the place…
Cute Dude took a candid shot of us, dammit… at least he could have told us.
The Nikko Pagoda
These are the infamous 3 monkeys, (no I don’t mean the girls, I meant the carved monkeys on top!)
See no evil, Speak no evil, Hear no evil!
Ahhh, more kawai japanese girls, don’t you just lov’em!
Finally, behind this tablet lies the main focus of our trip… the Toshogu Shrine!
Did I say the shrine lies behind the tablet? Oh I meant it lies behind the stone gate…
From these shots, you can see how us the 3 dudes loooove to take pictures of ourselves. Do you believe that we actually stayed for 2 hours outside the stone gate just to take photos? (hahaha, just kidding… wat big nostrils cute dude has…)
Tadaaa… wat u all have been waiting for… The Toshogu Shrine!
Inside the shrine…
Hey! Wat’cha lookin at?
Bye!!
