Kegon Falls
Nikko Trip: Part 3 (Kegon Falls ~ Japan’s famous waterfall!)
Sunday, April 27th, 2008At 97 m high, Kegon Falls one of Japan’s three highest waterfalls and is located in the Nikko National Park. As such, the 3 dudes decided to witness this majestic monument.
After visiting the grand Toshogu Shrine, we decided to make our way to the Nikko National Park. We initially wanted to take a bus and we waited at the bus stop for almost 20 minutes but none arrived. In the end, we hailed a cab. The taxi cabby said that the trip from Toshogu Shrine to the Nikko National Park would cost 6000 yen and the 3 dudes were dumbfounded. (6000 yen = US$57.50 = S$78.21 as of April 2008) Even Cool dude who was the best at bargaining couldn’t persuade the cabby to give us a better rate.
The journey from Toshogu Shrine to the Nikko National Park took around 50 minutes. It was freezing cold when we stepped out of the taxi and it was the first time for me to witness beautiful heaps of white snow.
